BEHAVIOR INTERVENTIONIST

HAVENS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (GRADES 3-5)

REPORTS TO:                   Principal at Havens Elementary School

 

JOB GOALS:                     To help elementary age students and their families resolve personal, social, emotional, and behavioral problems that interfere with their adjustment to school, their personal academic achievement, and their capacity to enjoy the fullest benefits of the education offered to them.                            

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Education, or related field required
  • Michigan social work licensure preferred
  • Michigan Educator Certification or School Counselor Certification with NT (K-8) or NT (K-12) endorsement considered
  • Experience and knowledge with community agencies and resources
  • Experience with behaviorally challenged children
  • Experienced in working with students and parents in the school setting
  • Effective communication, organization, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and technological skills
  • Capacity to thrive in a team-oriented environment

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs casework service with individual students and/or groups to address those personal, social, or emotional maladjustments related to their educational and social process and implements behavioral interventions as an integral part of helping students become successful
  • As a part of the child study team and the building behavior team, consults and collaborates with other school personnel in gathering and giving information on a case, and in establishing respective roles in the modification of the student’s behavior
  • Coordinates meetings with school personnel when necessary
  • Participates in referrals to outside agencies as appropriate
  • Serves as a liaison between home and school when considerable follow up is necessary
  • Maintains records of cases for use by school staff including identified at-risk students who qualify under Section 31a
  • Monitors student attendance and works with county truancy officer for investigative follow up
  • Serves in a leadership role in school parenting groups, supporting initiatives to help students become successful
  • Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as the principal may from time to time assign

 

 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:   Start Date - January 21, 2020 (full-time position will adhere to the school

year calendar)

 

RATE OF PAY:        Per SVEA Contract if candidate holds Michigan Educator Certification or School

Counselor Certification with NT endorsement;

All other candidates - $45,000 commensurate on education & experience
